flexible spaces for flexible education

RK, working alongside the Calgary Board of Education (CBE), recently delivered this Grade 5 to 9 school, which opened for classes early in 2017. Although the original design was based on a prototype, our architectural professionals modified the original to accommodate our aims for sustainability and value engineering. Initially contracted as a starter school, RK was gratified to hear that the government had chosen to re-prioritize the project as a full facility, which allowed RK to design a space which, at approximately 80,000 sq. ft., features flex spaces with moveable walls, two gymnasiums, a well-equipped work-shop, and special spaces for subjects like food science, music, fashion, art, and drama.
