Visualization managing director

RK Visualization is looking for an experienced full-time Visualization Managing Director to join our team.

This position requires a design professional with a strong background in developing strategic planning in order to drive and grow the business to the achievement of overall financial goals, staff development and client retention. 

This position will be responsible for the overall management, direction, and co-ordination of the Visualization Department under the direction of the Executive team using the company’s vision and core purpose as a guiding principal.  You will engage closely with the Marketing group to establish the overall marketing and business development that will result in the achievement of the shared objectives

responsibilities include:

  • General Administration

  • Recommend and develop new processes, procedures, or improvements to RKV’s identity and capability

  • Understand client needs, possess strong communication skills, and work effectively within an integrated design team

  • Working with the senior management team to meet client goals and ensure client satisfaction

  • Work with various stake holders to determine resources, timelines, and budget projections

  • Directly responsible for the performance of staff members and will work closely with the CFO to monitor the profitability of projects utilizing financial tools such as Ajera and excel.

  • Strive to achieve the firm’s financial goals

  • Understand and manage the group in a financially responsible manner

  • Makes themselves available to provide necessary support to administration staff and members running projects

  • Ensure that staff meet project budget

  • Function as a major client contact, assuring that client needs are met

  • See that satisfactory relationships are maintained with clients, consultants, and other vested interests

  • Initiate new projects and follow-up on potential projects

  • Be active and visible in professional, business, and civic organizations

  • Assist Marketing in responding to new business opportunities

  • Seek and identify new work associated with existing projects and clients

  • Develop new group competencies to support target markets

  • Work with the Marketing Department and the Proposal Team in preparing proposals, assigning project teams, and making presentations

  • Responsible for supervising the work of team personnel, overall management, and staffing

  • Play a large role in staff recruitment initiatives

  • Develop and maintain dependable, motivated staff and high morale

  • Conduct professional development and performance reviews

  • Identify potential candidates to improve the departments technical competency and efficiency

  • Keep abreast of software and hardware being used in the department so that educated decisions can be made about project direction

  • Keep abreast of technological changes in the visualization industry that could affect project management

  • Stay current with industry developments to ensure we are providing our clients with the most up to date and technical information and procedures

  • Research and identify relevant technologies for inclusion into project workflow and client offerings

  • Establish strategic goals and policy with other members of the firm

  • Participate with department heads to determine general staffing needs and maintain a proper balance through assignment, recruitment, promotion or dismissal

  • Actively participate with creativity and foresight as a member of project teams

  • Encourage staff flexibility, cooperation, and participation on multiple and concurrent projects

  • Have regularly scheduled communication programs and chair all department meetings

  • Experience with photography / videography and their inclusion in visualization projects as standalone or composited elements

education and experience:

  • Diploma or Degree in New Media, Fine Arts or Architecture is preferred

  • 10+ years visualization experience

  • Architectural Industry experience is an asset

  • Project management certificate an asset

  • Human Resources training an asset

  • Experience with 3D Studio Max, V-Ray, Adobe Creative Suites are a must

  • AutoCAD and Revit are an asset

Working Conditions

  • Work is completed in an integrates Architectural and Visualization office environment and requires working on a computer that vast majority of the work week, with frequent meetings and project site visits.
