independent seniors haven

Nestled in the heart of North Calgary, Silvera for Seniors isn’t just about constructing a building; it’s about crafting a haven where seniors can thrive independently. Located on 85 Livingston Hill NE, this project marks the genesis of the Silvera Campus, envisioned as a vibrant community hub for seniors. With 63 units spread across a 4-storey apartment building, the project wasn’t just about building homes; but to sow seeds of belonging and dignity for seniors in the community.

The mission was simple yet profound: to create snug, affordable homes tailored for low-income seniors. Every detail considered and every plan drafted was infused with the vision of fostering enduring quality and care. The team didn’t just aim to provide shelter; but aspired to nurture a sanctuary where seniors could embrace life with dignity and independence, surrounded by a supportive network.

Phase 1 of the project comprises a 4-storey building with 47 units. Phase 2, seamlessly attached to Phase 1, will add 16 additional units. Each phase is meticulously planned to minimize disruption to residents during construction, with Phase 2’s commencement pending a funding announcement from the government.

Silvera offers a cozy retreat of one and two-bedroom units, including 8 spacious two-bedroom havens for cherished moments with family. Although balconies are absent, common areas boast an inviting amenity room, where laughter and celebrations can be shared. With a hardy panel exterior, the design team envisioned constructing a building of enduring comfort and security.

In the quest for inclusivity, the team left no stone unturned. Fifteen percent of the suites are thoughtfully designed for full barrier-free accessibility, featuring amenities like accessible shower stalls, doors, and even motorized upper cabinets in the kitchen. And it’s not just the suites; the entire building is designed to embrace everyone, with two elevators ensuring seamless mobility for all.

Winter construction posed a significant challenge, particularly during the foundation and site services phase. To overcome the hurdles of winter construction, the foundation type was modified to piling, ensuring the project’s viability even in adverse weather conditions.

Silvera for Seniors represents a milestone in providing affordable and sustainable housing solutions for low-income seniors in Calgary. Through innovative design and meticulous planning, the project embodies Silvera’s commitment to fostering vibrant and inclusive communities for seniors. Welcome to Silvera—a place where dreams take flight, and hearts find a home.
