Project Blueprint: Monplaisir Retail Kiosk (The core Shopping Centre)

RK’s design for this retail kiosk focused on the client’s needs and unique challenges for operating in a small space.

Monplaisir Delicacies Ltd. is a high-end confectionary selling bite sized desserts including macarons, chocolates and nougat from Europe. Monplaisir is known for its brightly coloured and delicious macarons, so designing well-lit displays which keep the food items at the proper temperature and tantalize patrons became the focus of the kiosk’s design. The finishes used in this high-end space include Wenge solid wood counters, white split-faced stone tile and glossy back-painted glass with stainless steel trim.

Although no food is prepared on site, Alberta Heath Services requires a hand-washing sink on the premises. Even with a small sink, the requirements for cold water, hot water tank, vent stack and sewer had to be coordinated with the base building, and the requirements for soap and hand drying were thoughtfully incorporated into a small space.
