Marketing Communications Specialist

responsibilities include:

  • Plan, strategize and design various internal and external communications deliverables in both traditional and new media to support corporate marketing, sales and reputation management initiatives

  • Manage corporate internal communication tools including MS Teams and company intranet

  • Create and maintain web-based content (corporate websites, company intranet, social media channels, e-mail campaigns)

  • Manage the 12-month content calendar and social media channels for the company and divisions of

  • Contribute to the development and growth of the corporate marketing communications strategy

  • Research and compile data required by the Marketing Team and other key stakeholders

  • Manage and update CRM database, ensuring superior data integrity and spearheading the implementation of customizations (e.g., data entry interfaces, status reports, workflows)

  • Update and design print materials (e.g., proposals, newsletters, brochures, displays, reports, ads, promo items, banners, construction site signage)

  • Design presentation graphics (e.g., tables, charts, photo compositions, infographics) and PowerPoint slide decks

  • Provide creative ideation and script preparation for presentations and speeches at conferences and special events

  • Write and edit copy for proposals, correspondences, reports, and presentations; provide document layout support (as needed)

  • Coordinate photography for events, headshots, projects, and social media - for both the Calgary and Edmonton locations

  • Identify vendors, obtain quotes and engage services for tasks to be outsourced

  • Help organize and, if necessary, participate in Open Houses, Trade Show Booths, and Special Corporate Events/ Sponsorships

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the team from a marketing perspective

qualifications include:

  • Proficiency in PC environment, with Windows and MS Office literacy

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud applications (primarily InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat; to a lesser degree in Premiere Pro, After Effects) – exceptional design/ layout skills in InDesign is required

  • Excellent writing/ editing skills in English

  • Ability to execute multiple assignments within set timeframes

  • Ability to work responsibly within a team structure and resourcefully with minimal supervision

  • Superior attention to detail

  • Other creative/ technical skills (photography, illustration, videography) a definite plus

education and experience:

  • Minimum five years of experience in a professional office environment - must demonstrate an increasing level of responsibility and capability in performance of duties

  • Diploma or degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or graphic/ new media design preferred; alternatively, four years of practical writing, design and production experience in marketing and/or editorial environment

  • Experience with CRM software/ databases and CMS systems

  • Experience with social media management systems and e-mail marketing services

  • Strong understanding of CASL

  • Formal training in or proven practical experience with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (especially InDesign and Photoshop is a must)
