Intermediate / Senior Architectural Technologist

location: CALGARY, AB

responsibilities include:

  • Provide the Architectural Department with a lead in the preparation of architectural construction documents

  • Function as a project coordinator as assigned to projects.

  • Works from sketches, notes and other input material to produce computer-generated graphs, charts, overlays and completed drawings. Can complete finished product with limited direction.

  • Proficiency in drawing; provide Revit and AutoCAD support in all areas of projects and for all levels of detailing

  • Communicate with consultants, contractors and design team

  • Work effectively within the team of architects, designers, and project managers to produce drawings, sketches, schedules, etc.

  • Accuracy, quality, completeness and adherence to the schedule can be independently maintained

  • Generally involved throughout a project but may help out as backup to other teams as needed

  • Understand and follow company standard CADD/ Revit procedures for layering, etc., and standard drawing procedures for sheet layout. Suggest improvements to standard procedures.

  • Exceptional verbal, written and communication skills

  • Ability to work from sketches, notes or other input material to produce computer-generated drawings

  • Ability to create aesthetically pleasing and useable drawings

  • Proven ability to generate model/ drawings using the current industry versions of Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Acrobat Reader/Writer

  • Ability to lead, manage and mentor a diverse team, and coordinate design with other disciplines

  • Excellent planning, thinking through and problem solving skills

  • Team Player

  • Strong ability to complete finished product with limited direction

education and experience:

  • Diploma or Degree from 2+ year technology program

  • 8 – 12 years Architectural production experience

  • Experience leading or managing production teams in Canada

  • Excellent AutoCAD skills; 2 years Revit experience is a must

Work is completed in an architectural office environment and requires working on a computer the vast majority of the work week, with occasional meetings and project site visits.
