responsibilities include:
Provides support and executes implementation of a project as directed
Prepares and develops design concepts from pre-design to design development, prepares and executes Development Permit process, coordinates with Authorities having Jurisdiction
Provides code analysis
Assures the established design concept meets outlined project scope and budget, assures production of all deliverables will meet schedule or determined milestones according to project plan
Engages and collaborates with engineers in support of holistic project approach and cost efficient solutions
Strives for creative and innovative design solutions meeting all outlined and defined project goals
Prepares and conducts design presentations
Develops and maintains client relationships
Has the ability to develop 80% of drawing requirement on own initiative and co-ordinates with senior staff and consultants on remainder of project requirements
Ability to successfully work within a team and resolve complex design tasks efficiently and effectively
Works from sketches, notes and other input material to produce computer-generated models, concepts, overlays and completed drawings
Proficiency in drawing; provide Revit/AutoCAD support in all areas of projects and for all levels of detailing
Performs meetings on site or with client as directed by the Project Manager
Provides support and implementation of various elements of project as required
Has the ability to co-ordinate and mentor junior staff and delegate work (CAD and design/detailing)
qualifications include:
Demonstrated success with various types of projects from pre-design through design development, IFC, CA to project completion
Demonstrated understanding of project management process, specifically scope, budget and schedule
High level of creativity, innovative thinking and problem solving skills
Proven ability using and managing the current industry versions of Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office Suite efficiently and effectively
Solid understanding and knowledge of architectural project production cycles
Full competency with Alberta Building Code is essential
Solid and up to date understanding of construction detailing for a variety of building systems and types, material knowledge and experience in various building construction methods
Full competency with City of Edmonton DP and BP submission and approval requirements
Solid understanding of zoning and by-law requirements
Effective verbal, written and oral communication skills
Excellent time management skills
Ability to lead, manage and mentor a diverse team and at the same time multiple projects
Superior attention to detail and ability to create clear well laid out drawings
Strong organizational skills; especially in the management of drawing files and drawing lists
Business Development and Client Contact:
Use your communication skills to reach out to new and existing clients in order to build and maintain positive client relationships
Build on your existing client relationships by scheduling regular social interactions to promote good partnership practices

Professional Development:
Remain an active member within relevant industry organizations by retaining membership, attending meetings, or sitting on a board. Utilize connections made and knowledge gained to advance existing client relations
Get involved in, or register for, courses or activities which support corporate goals
Leadership:
Lead by example; mentor staff about client relations in order to achieve positive feedback from clients regarding deadlines, scope management, and quality outcomes
Actively mentor staff in the areas of project planning, scope management, client development, and personal development
Identify possible inefficiencies in current process structures and recommend improved solutions
Get to know staff and their learning styles in order to better respond to problems and queries
Be a champion of positive office culture
education and experience:
Diploma or Degree from an accredited University program in Architecture
Registration with the Alberta Association of Architects
Minimum of 8 +years of professional architectural design experience
Demonstrated success in a variety of architectural projects throughout all phases
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
LEED accreditation an asset
